A certain color combo popped out at me on Pinterest. And of course! It’s above, here, in the logo.
Orange and pink in a more subdued way …
Here it is in a room, from Architectural Digest:
Narciso Rodriguez dials it up a bit brighter, from WWD:
And so does Marchesa for Spring 2013, clearly India-inspired (see more from the India collection at Zsa Zsa Bellagio):
(But what’s up with all the bruises on the models in Marchesa’s show?)
And Matthew Williamson RTW Spring 2013 via WWD:
It’s here in this Aquasilk rug from ABC Carpet & Home, using vintage India sari silk:
It’s also in this paisley pillow from World Market:
Burberry Prorsum delivers it in pastels, via Zsa Zsa Bellagio:
And so does Free People:
The guest room in our Chennai apartment is going to have bright pink and orange, mixed with pastel colors to tone it down a bit. Because as a guest in India, wouldn’t you expect pink and orange?
One of my favorite color combos, indeed. I think it’s hard to pull off, though. In equal amounts it loses its impact (or just ends up being loud). Most of these designers let pink lead, and everyone went for equally saturated hues for both colors. I think bringing in pastels with brighter versions would be interesting.
Hi Carol, good insight, you’re right. It may be good to let one color take the lead and use the other as an accent. Or, use more subtle versions of the colors. I received your email, thank you so much for contacting me – I will reply! I have numerous email boxes and check this one periodically otherwise my entire life would be spent online and that would be sad! Deb
Gorgeous! That Marchesa dress? Wow. Love the ABC rug too! I’m not usually a warm-color person when it comes to decorating my own home, but I love to look at orange and pink together like this!
Yes they’re gorgeous together, not as garish as they usually are!
I’m not usually a bright color combo girl, but I do love this particular mix. Especially if it’s not neon. The first dress is lovely (and you could wear on your fat day and still feel gorgeous) and the origami short cocktail is to die for! Love
