For reference, this room is 14 feet wide by 24 feet long. Our house was built in the late 1960s so there is no room designed for the super-sized TV screens of today! That is why there is no TV in this room. With four windows, and only one small solid wall between a staircase and walkway to the kitchen, it was awkward to figure out where to put a TV and keep the natural pathway where people walk through.
There are no curtains because the old curtains clashed after I repainted the walls a lighter color (Benjamin Moore Aura, French Macaroon). I like really nice quality curtains, and with four windows that’s an investment. So the windows are bare. Which is okay with me. You may find a collection jar for new curtains at the end of our driveway some day!
There are DIY projects in this room that you can do too. Here are the tutorials:
Um, I like silk?
As you can see from the sources, many things were found while traveling. Years ago we made two epic trips to Thailand and ordered lots of furniture, some custom made to our specs. Even with the cost of shipping across the world, the total cost was more affordable than buying at home. I guess technically I should count the costs of travel, but hey — we were already there on vacation!
Looking around the room brings back memories of trips. It’s a great way to keep enjoying vacations years later.
I’ll share more rooms soon. This room was the cleanest! :)
