I have a lot of interests so there’s variety posted here at the Nomadic Decorator. I created topics for you to join, because I want to be sure that emails fit your interests. Because don’t we all get too much email! :)
Also, I never share or sell email lists! Your email is safe here and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Subscribe and you will get notices of:
- DIYs done differently — Projects such as how to stencil patterns with paint in creative ways, how to make lamps, how to pour concrete to make vases and candle holders, and much more! I share the how-to’s in tutorials.
- Decor ideas from around the world — One day we journey to India, the next we go to Thailand, then Marrakech and then we look at tiles in Portugal. Come travel virtually around the world for inspiring design ideas you can weave into your home. Sometimes I post photos and stories from my travels.
- Follow the India pied-à-terre story — We have a “second home” apartment in Chennai, India and occasionally I write about it, especially when we’re actively planning projects and decorating there. Now that is truly “design around the world!”
I am not online much; don’t read blogs as a habit, but every now and again, something catches my eye..like your blog. I live in Ann Arbor,MI presently,(recently moved from the Oregon coast, and may find my gypsy soul there again..) and love the interesting cultures and decor that seem to be everywhere here. From restaurants to homes, it’s like world travels in furnishings, and I love it. Often, I am called upon to mosaic or bead a piece that has seen better days. If you would ever like something done to one of your finds, tiny or large, I can do it on mesh according to your measurements, and ship it to you with instructions. Here’s a link to what I do. Look at the “albums” to avoid endless work in profess pics. (Keep in mind,it’s not all mosaics- presently, I am re-feathering a bird for a client. ) I love watching what you are doing with your place. ! Blessings, Patrianne (Tricia) Boucha
Hi Patrianne, I am glad my blog caught your eye! And thank you so much for writing and sharing your work! I didn’t see a link in the comment but I googled and I hope this is what you wanted to share? http://contemporarymosaicart.com/patrianne-boucha/gallery/patrianne-boucha/all I am going to spend much time clicking through the galleries – your work is beautiful! Your kitchen backsplash is stunning.
I could absolutely see adding mosaic and beads to a special Indian textile, or an overlay above the textile and framed. One of my husband’s cousins wore a beaded saree to our niece’s wedding in India. She had beads hand-stitched over the saree’s designs. It was so breath-taking, beautiful. Actually I will be keeping our India apartment’s walls neutral, with the intent that we will hang colorful art on the walls later.
I lived around Ann Arbor for many years – I went to EMU for undergrad then UofM for grad school (the school of public health by the hospital). My family is still in the Detroit area so we pass through when we drive from Chicago to Detroit for holidays.
I think the phrase “world travels in furnishings” captures the idea here — why not bring the world into our homes so we can feel like we can go on a short escape when we need to, even when we’re at home.
I will keep in touch Patrianne! Deb
